DEC 6 Community Workshop: Platinum Printing with Bostick & Sullivan
In this hands on workshop participants will learn the process of utilizing digital technology to produce archival inkjet negatives for contacting printing, and will be introduced to the platinum palladium chemistry to make their own handmade photographic prints. This workshop, taught by Christi Whiltenburg and sponsored by Bostick & Sullivan, is free for members of the New Orleans Photo Alliance.
DEC 7 Education Day Seminar: THE PATH TO A PHOTOBOOK TODAY
This half-day seminar explores contemporary publishing models and the impact that a book will have on your career. Featuring Mary Virginia Swanson, Shark Tank: Photography Book Edition with Colleen Mullins & Bruce Myren, and a publishers panel including Sooane Berner, MACK; Literary Agent and Publishing Advisor Joan Brookbank; David Chickey, Radius Books; and Amelia Lang, Aperture.
DEC 8 + 9 Ashley Gilbertson Workshop
This two-day workshop will be beneficial to anyone looking to push the boundaries of their photography. Through a combination of shooting, discussion and review the class will cover topics such as thinking outside of the box, approaching strangers, making powerful images in challenging situations, and photographing how a place feels over how it looks. Ashley Gilbertson, a member of the VII Photo Agency recognized for his unique approaches to social issues, will also share practical career advice.
DEC 9 Hands On: Self-Publishing with Tammy Mercure
Learn about the joys and practical realities self publishing, including the topics of editing, sequencing, design and distribution. In this one-day workshop, Tammy Mercure, who produces books for Antenna’s publishing imprint and is renown for her own self published photobooks, will guide participants in creating effective book layouts. Each student’s finished design will be printed and bound onsite.
