The relationship between a gallery and a collector has evolved dramatically in the 40 years our young field has been building the market for collectible prints. Buyers typically benefit from the knowledge and expertise that experienced galleries offer to their clients, from providing historical context for the works to strategizing new acquisitions based on factors such as styles, processes and trends. Today, challenges to the gallery-collector relationship revolve around the rise of new sales venues and changes in consumer’s interests and purchasing habits. In a time when many fine print sales occur through third parties such as art consultants and interior designers and frequently occur at art fairs or online, this seminar and accompanying professional panel will review and look ahead at the market for fine prints today and in the future.
