Fridgeir Helgason Workshop: Dec 13 & 14, 2013
Icelandic photographer Fridgeir Helgason over 3 years captures stark landscapes and still lifes of St. Bernard Parish. Fridgeir lived in St.Bernard parish for 3 years while working on Da Parish project. Previously he resided and worked in Los Angeles and Iceland. He uses 6×7 negative film to create color chromogenic prints of stark landscapes and still life. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Los Angeles and Iceland.
Workshop:
Fridgeir Helgason will host a 2 day workshop in conjunction with his solo show Da Parish, a journey through St. Bernard Parish. The workshop will focus on how to produce a strong photographic project, and cultivation of personal style. Using his Parish project as a model, the workshop will include a trip through the Parish on Friday December 13th, and a discussion and portfolio review on Saturday December 14th. Participants are encouraged to photograph St. Bernard Parish on Friday and a review of images will be conducted on Saturday. Participants are also welcome to bring current personal projects for discussion and review by Fridgeir.
Helgason has assisted on workshops with photographers including Bruce Davidson, Todd Hido and Keith Carter. Please contact gallery via phone or email for specific times.
