Portraiture Workshop with Steve Pyke

Steve Pyke, internationally known portrait photographer, will lead a workshop exploring the dynamics of reportage photography on the streets of New Orleans and the various angles from which you can approach any assignment. The workshop will utilize the Garden District as the backdrop and Steve will lead the participants in putting together the following elements to make a successful portrait; Content, Composition, Facial Expressions, Approach, Lighting, Double Portraiture and Group Portraiture.
Steve Pyke has worked for many of the world’s leading magazines and is currently a contributing photographer at The New Yorker. He has published eight books which concentrate on different aspects of his work and has been exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, Mexico and the USA. His work is held in many permanent collections, including the National Portrait Gallery, the Imperial War Museum, the V&A in London, and the New York Public Library.
In 2004 Pyke received the MBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours list for his services to the Arts. In 2006 he was made a Friend of the Royal Photographic Society.
Cost is $75, and the class is limited to 10 participants. Please make sure to bring your camera and charged batteries! The class will meet at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery, 1111 St. Mary St. and venture out from there.
