New Surroundings is the first all photography exhibition at Pietra at 912, a new gallery/event space on Julia Street. Leona Strassberg Steiner has organized a group show for this year’s PhotoNOLA with artists from New Orleans and beyond. The artists search for new surroundings, whether that is a physical space or a spiritual one. This is an all ImageMaker show using different photographic processes, video, collage, painting and sculpture.
Featuring: Jane Fulton Alt, Gason Ayisyin, Brian Barbieri, Muffin Bernstein, BottleTree, Blake Boyd, Christopher Bryson, Tan Khanh Cao, Kim Coleman, Veronica Cross, Garrett DeBell, Michael Fedor, C+J (Cecelia+Jose Fernandes), Miro Hoffmann, Rita Jimenez, Beatrice Mady, Linka Odom and Leona Strassberg Steiner.
Pietra is an exhibition and multi-use space located at 912 Julia Street. Sharing a building with a fully functional marble shop in downtown New Orleans, Pietra seeks to nurture and provide space to artists and creatives who might not otherwise have access to a traditional gallery. In addition to cultivating relationships with new artists, Pietra provides a flexible space for established artists to experiment and collaborate in unexpected ways.
