There will be a public symposium on Saturday December 5th, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm about the Angola hospice program and the growing prison hospice movement.
Grace Before Dying is an award-winning photographic documentary by Lori Waselchuk that chronicles the prisoner-run hospice program at Angola State Penitentiary, Louisiana’s maximum-security prison. Through a Distribution Grant from the Documentary Photography Project of the Open Society Institute, Grace Before Dying is now a traveling exhibition that is touring correctional facilities, museums and community centers.
Grace Before Dying was nominated for the 2009 Santa Fe Prize for Photography; it was a finalist for the 2008 Aperture West Book Prize; and it won the 2007 PhotoNOLA Review Prize. For more information see www.gracebeforedying.org.
