For the members of the New Orleans Community Printshop, much of the past year has been consumed by the drive to build the space of their dreams: a permanent location to create works of art in the mediums that they love, and teach those art forms to others.
While countless hours were spent in the slowly progressing shop, members created, developed and printed elsewhere, and inhabited other studios, shops, basements, and schools. At last that time has ended, and NOCP members can develop and print in a shop of their own.
Printed Here is an exploration of both traditional and experimental photography made in the long anticipated New Orleans Community Printshop space. Featuring work created by NOCP members, the show will host a range of works beginning with black and white photography and progressing with an amalgamation of darkroom photography and printmaking techniques, enunciating the cohabitation of these mediums.
Meg Turner will present a ruby-lith printing demonstration in NOCP’s darkroom on Saturday, Dec 8 at 6pm. Free and open to the public.
