Cristina Molina: Sabor-Saber-Saver
December 3, 2014 – January 29, 2015
Opening: Wednesday, Dec 3, 6-8pm
In conjunction with PhotoNOLA 2014, Cristina Molina’s stereoscopic photo installation will be on view in NOCCA’s Goldring Riverview Gallery. New Orleans Center for Creative Arts is an arts conservatory for high school students. The exhibition will coincide with the faculty show downstairs in Kirschman art space (which will also include photography, though not exclusively).
Statement:
Sabor-Saber-Saver explored an intimate relationship with the city of Buenos Aires and the possibility of getting to know a place through its taste. Twenty-five sites were visited throughout the city where a corresponding meal was prepared, and a bilingual romantic text was written, emulating an act of courtship.
Viewers of the installation were able to interact with the final work by looking at the photographs and texts through a stereoscopic viewer. As the audience engaged with the piece, flat doubled images and texts merged into one, creating a single perspectival image on one side, and a conjoined language on the other.
