For PhotoNOLA 2017, Bar Redux presents Nature & Architecture: Luke Fontana and Vincent Simmons. This two person exhibition will feature recent photography by Luke Fontana & Vincent Simmons, focusing on themes of nature and architecture.
Luke Fontana will be exhibiting his Northern Italy photographs, including images from The Dolomiti Mountains, at the Italian/Austrian Border.
“I try to capture the Magic of houses with Souls Within… something Clarence Laughlin taught me on the 3rd floor of the Pontalba apartments. At this point in my career nature photography is what I want to capture with the hope of preservation for our children’s children.” – Luke Fontana
In contrast, Vincent Simmons will exhibiting his photographs of Louisiana wildlife, set against the backdrop of the Bayou countryside and New Orleans.
“While I can usually be found documenting the various festivals and events in New Orleans, my discovery of avian photography began in fall 2016. While passing time in City Park I noticed several birds at one of the lagoons. Noticing a pattern over a few days, I returned with my camera and I was hooked. In photographing birds, it didn’t take me long to understand that I was in their world and patience was key to getting the shot…and I was fine with that. I look forward to learning more about this genre of photography in the near future.” – Vincent Simmons
Ruby & The Rogues – This trio’s unique instrumentation and individual styles create a refreshing and accessible musical experience. In prior years they opened for such major acts as Heart, Tim Reynolds, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and Bonerama. This New Orleans based band continues to perform regularly in local clubs and venues.
