fLight – a collection of feather lumen prints

December 2-31, 2016
Opening: Friday, Dec 2, 6-10pm
Statement:
My fascination with feather printing coincided with the launch of the Louisiana World Tour; and a swamp, a bug & a pheasant feather started it all.
This exhibition is a collection of lumen print feathers that represent the years 2011 to the present. In 2011 I was 39 and at the dawn of middle age. Unlike many (or all) this was a time of huge excitement for me. I decided to fly “feather first” into this thrilling new era. I embarked on a philosophical & photographic World Tour road trip to create a larger world for myself. Not wanting to abandon my beloved lumen print form, I began working on a series of lumen feather prints to keep me grounded. As the World Tour continued to turn, the series grew. The years changed, as I did, and so did the look and feel of the feather prints. From grounded to free to fanciful and content, these prints reflect my journey in this ongoing chapter of life. – Natasha Sanchez
