Each photographer will discuss their winning series with an accompanying slideshow projection. The Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography fund was established to honor the life and work of Michael P. Smith, one of New Orleans’ most legendary and beloved documentary photographers. The fund awards cash prizes and exhibition opportunities to Gulf Coast photographers whose work demonstrates both artistic excellence and a sustained commitment to a cultural documentary project. The 2024 award was juried by the award-winning photographer, filmmaker, and writer RaMell Ross.
