Les Schmidt: Storm

Guy Lyman Fine Art is pleased to present Storm, a preview of photographer Les Schmidt’s new abstract series of archival pigment prints taken with an old BlackBerry Storm smartphone. His photograph Storm 64 was a finalist for this year’s Camera USA™ 2017 National Photography Award and Exhibition.
Les Schmidt (b. 1960) attended the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts from 2003-2004. He has exhibited extensively in the US including Atlanta, GA; Los Angeles, CA; Naples, FL; Cooperstown, NY; Minneapolis, MN; Nashville, TN; Portland, OR; Essex Junction, VT as well as his hometown of New Orleans. He’s also been a selected finalist for national juried exhibitions at the Huntsville Museum of Art, Masur Museum of Art and Attleboro Arts Museum. Schmidt’s photograph Tradition in Progress, taken during Hurricane Katrina, was an international juried finalist at Ph21 Gallery in Budapest, Hungary and his still life portraits Lillian and Chet appear in the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Red Clay Survey 2017 catalogue and the forthcoming Manifest International Photography Annual 6.
