King & Blue: The Vanishing Black Bars & Lounges Experience at Sweet Lorraine’s Jazz Club

L. Kasimu Harris, a New Orleans-based artist, hosts an immersive late-night conversation and celebration for his “King & Blue” photographic exhibition at Sweet Lorraine’s Jazz Club. This experience will feature exciting surprises that epitomize the self-reflective spirit of New Orleans. This installation is a part of Prospect.6: The Future is Present, The Harbinger is Home, an international art triennial held citywide in New Orleans, and Harris is one of the 51 artists.

He’s also one of 13 artists in MoMA’s New Photography 2025: Lines of Belonging, the 40th anniversary of the celebrated exhibition, showing work from the Vanishing Black Bars & Lounges series. Harris has penned essays published in several books including Best Food Writing 2016, New Southern Photography: Images of the Twenty-First Century American South, and he was the photo essayist for the Prospect. 5 Catalogue, Yesterday we said tomorrow.

Most recently, Harris was the unit still photographer for Nickel Boys, a movie directed by RaMell Ross and based on the Colson Whitehead novel.
