Karen Lozinski: Music Life in New Orleans
December 1-31, 2017
Music Life in New Orleans by Karen Lozinski examines moments of intimacy in and around performance, centering on New Orleans musicians and brass bands. Karen is particularly drawn to the dichotomy between the public and the private in the execution of any work of art, in this case music performance. She has endeavored to locate and document these flashes of intimacy created by this tension as they are cultivated–intentionally or not–by the artist, ideally without rupturing them in any way. Her classical training as a musician along with years of writing and performing have offered worthy guidance in this regard.
