The Porch Project is the culmination of a three year visual documentation series, by Danielle Shubert, based on the importance of porch culture and Creole lifestyle in New Orleans. Explore these porch portraits as a way to pay homage to the extraordinary life we live outside of Mardi Gras– the Monday red beans and rice, the crawfish boils, the second lines and our relaxed afternoons on the porch–for the magic of New Orleans is the essence of the people who live, work and believe in it.
A selection of images from The Porch Project will be on view in The Chandlery Gallery at The Old No. 77 Hotel, along with the book with all of the porch portraits. There will be a opportunity to meet the artist, Danielle Shubert, and a book signing on December 15th from 5-7pm.
