Miriam Waterman has employed the camera to pierce the dermis of her subjects and splay open that which lies inside. Asking her subjects to reflect self-perception with a word or phrase stenciled onto a body part of choice while posing in a setting of choice, the artist uses her shutter to unveil each individual’s core essence, something not usually appreciated in a day to day toil.
