This solo show for BQ Williams is an exhibition of color photographs featured in his most recent book, Conduit. This exhibition is hosted by Travelers Hotel, a boutique, artist-powered hotel in the Lower Garden District. Travelers Hotel hosts programming throughout the year that extends local artists’ reach to guests visiting the city.
BQ Williams is a featured artist at Travelers Hotel; his film photography is on temporary display in the hotel’s lobby gallery. BQ’s goal as a photographer is to create 35mm and 120mm film street photographs in a painterly style that focus on documenting architecture, conservation, history, contemporary social problems, as well as advocate for social justice. Community and humanity inspire BQ, who seeks to capture the essence displayed in various environments across cities in Louisiana. His hometown of Baton Rouge is where his artistic journey began. New Orleans has been BQ’s home since Spring 2021. Film is his primary medium, and all of his B&W and color film photos are developed by himself at his home.
Additional Programming
The gallery opening event at Travelers Hotel will feature complimentary wine for attendees (sponsored by Really Really Nice Wines), as well as light refreshments provided by an artist-in-residence living at Travelers. BQ will also be officially releasing his photography book, and it will be for sale.
