The work represented has been selected from Ruth’s wet plate collodion photographs taken with Civil War period cameras and lenses and hand printed in the traditional chemical baths.
The subject matter ranges from the recent portrait studies of the Hot 8 Brass Band to the cemeteries of New Orleans and Mississippi.
Euphus Ruth is a self-taught photographer born in Texas, raised in the hills of north Mississippi, and who has lived in the Delta region for the last thirty years.

A portion of the proceeds of this exhibit will be donated to the Bywater Community Development Corporation and the Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund. Shavers, a member of the Hot 8, died at the age of 25 from a gunshot wound to the back of his head on the 2200 block of Dumaine, on December 28, 2008.
