Ashley Gilbertson Presentation
Sunday, Dec 10, 11am
THNOC Williams Research Center
Free and open to the public
Ashley Gilbertson, an award winning photographer and writer with the VII Photo Agency, will be presenting his work concerning the Iraq war, the Bedrooms of Fallen Soldiers, and refugees.
Gilbertson’s photographic chronicle of the Iraq War was published as a book, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, in 2007. For seven years after that, Gilbertson focused on veterans’ issues, including the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and suicide, which led to his second book, Bedrooms of the Fallen, a memorial of servicemembers who died fighting overseas.
For the past three years, on assignment for UNICEF and The New York Times, Gilbertson has focused exclusively on the global refugee crisis, with a particular focus on the challenges of integration in Europe through the eyes of three families.
Immediately following the presentation, Gilbertson will be available to sign copies of his two monographs.
