Curator’s Statement

Lisa Cates:
Ms. Cates’s images struck me with their outright visual humor. Looking at
Ms. Cates’s work, I became aware that there is an intimacy within the
humor. Visions of the funny moments from a personal life. A bit like a
survival technique to cope with life’s real world problems. Always keeping
an eye towards the comic side of life. I’m laughing.

Alexis Martino:
Ms. Martino is an image maker and an educator. The images bring to
mind a flowing dream that leaves me longing to be touched by the
creation. The look is like a written play directed by Ms. Martino, where
the narrative is my own. I keep coming back to look and find my narrative.
keeps changing. Stunning.

Leslie Tabony:
Ms. Tabony’s images are a dreamscape of the senses. An uninhibited
sensual fantasy of possibilities. Reminiscent of all of the times we wake up and almost remember our unconscious state. Never sure of what the reality is except that the real is right in front of us. Beautiful.
