Michael Donnor was the second place winner of the 2009 PhotoNOLA Review Prize. A fine art photographer who resides in Buffalo, NY, Donnor’s work explores the construction of self-identity; expressively questioning the façade or “projection of self “ individuals choose to present to the world. Donnor’s tea stained and encaustic finished silver gelatin prints evoke myth and memory, utilizing techniques such as freezing, melting, scratching, and cutting the negatives to further convey the concepts behind the images.
Reviewer Susan Burnstine said “Donnor’s memorable series, Silent Moan, executes on many levels, including a unique process and a number of captivating images. He’s established the groundwork for a body of work that has solid potential.”
Michael Donnor will present an artist talk on Saturday, Dec 4th at noon.
