The 2021 PhotoNOLA in-person workshop offerings are possible thanks to Bostick & Sullivan, a small business with 40 years of experience specializing in chemicals and knowledge for alternative and historic photographic processes.

Discover the magic of creating tintypes in this one day workshop with New Orleans portrait artist Meg Turner. Participants will learn the basics of collodion chemistry, pour plates, shoot portraits and process their tintypes.

Each participant will go home with a portrait they have taken and one of themselves (participants will pair off and model for each other). We will shoot outside (weather permitting) and discuss the characteristics of shooting in both natural lighting and artificial lighting. Bring props, or costumes if you wish to create a tableau for your portrait, and wear clothes that can get stained.
