We are all truly bound by our common humanity. And we are all as different as grains of sand under a microscope. Yet, walk a beach and the pieces of rock, coral, shell, glass, metal, plastic, etc. are indistinguishable as different substances – it is all one gigantic family of sand. Like us?
On World Cyanotype Day 2018 artists across the globe were invited to create cyanotype flags representing “what makes you you and us us” on cloth squares. The vibrant array of 12×12 inches flags, strung together, represents the amazing diversity and commonality of us.
The exhibition premiered at the A Smith Gallery, in Johnson City, TX in September. At the Healing Center those flags will be joined by cyanotypes created here on World Cyanotype Day, along with other that have been sent in from as far away as Brazil.
