Street Culture to Global News: Personal Passions of Photographers at The New Orleans Advocate
December 7 – 14, 2017
Gallery Talk: Sunday, Dec 10, 2:45pm

840 St. Charles Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70130
504-636-7403

Featuring Max Becherer, Matthew Hinton, Scott Threlkeld, Sophia Germer and special guest Bruce Sunpie Barns.

A city as cultural, spirited and storied as New Orleans deserves to be photographed by people with the experience to understand and capture its many facets. Some of our photographers bring years of experience from the complex world of global news, some grew up in the French Quarter and some have been honored by the Mardi Gras Indian Hall of Fame. Max Becherer will present his perspective of covering Afghanistan for a decade, Matthew Hinton and Scott Threlkeld will present their work on Second Line and Jazz Funerals with special guest Bruce Sunpie Barns and Sophia Germer will present her work on the devastating tornado that hit New Orleans East and its recovery.

The Advocate will host a gallery talk on Sunday, December 10. Max Becherer and Bruce Sunpie Barnes will speak about the exhibition and their images, and the other featured artists will also be present to answer questions. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition will be open for viewing on the following dates:
