Liam Conway: Abstract Images of the Sounds of New Orleans

This project is a visual study of the musical instruments that bring life to the streets of New Orleans.
BIO
Liam Conway is a photographer based in New Orleans, LA. Originally from New York, he has also lived in Spain, Senegal, and French Guiana in addition to having traveled extensively both in America and abroad. He works with both color and black & white film ranging from 35mm to 4 x 5 large format. He also works with the wet plate collodion process, producing 8 x 10 tintypes and ambrotypes. He is part of an art collective which runs United Bakery Gallery at 1337 St. Bernard Avenue. In addition to exhibiting regularly there, selections of his work can be seen permanently at the Bean Gallery, Rook Cafe, and intermittently at other locations around New Orleans. He has won an award in a juried competition at Art Scene Today and was recently featured in Renee Allie’s “Photographer’s Profile” for the New Orleans Photo Alliance, of which Liam is a longtime member. His current focus is on converting an enclosed trailer into a darkroom to allow more mobility with the wet plate process.
