In 2008, Roman Alokhin began a photographic project in Selma, Alabama. From Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign up to the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alokhin has developed a body of work entitled “Queen Selma”. Using traditional black and white processes, “Queen Selma” portrays every day life and events in this iconic southern city.
