Some exciting news from ours friends at POYi:
POYi is now offering $10,000 to an aspiring photojournalist to propose and complete a long-term documentary project of social significance.
The newly announced “POYi Emerging Vision Incentive” is open to all semi-professional, student, and early-career photographers. The application process requires a written project proposal of less than two pages and a few select photographs that represent their work and their project idea, and a nominal $20 application fee. The application deadline is May 31, 2010.
One “Emerging” recipient will be announced to receive the $10,000 to continue their project for a full year to competition. The project will then be included in POYi exhibitions in 2011.
“We are excited to be able to provide the environment and inspiration for emerging photographers to do work of worldwide importance,” said Rick Shaw, director of POYi. “We hope this program will help educate and motivate the next generation of social-conscious photojournalists and allow them to explore and expand avenues of publication that are currently unavailable to them.”
Complete details, guidelines and application form are available on on their Web site at www.poyi.org.
