The New Orleans Photo Alliance (NOPA) is currently accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the Board of Directors. Nominations will be accepted online through July 8th, 2019.
NOPA’s officers and committee chairs ensure that the New Orleans Photo Alliance continues to impact photography in New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, and beyond. The work is demanding but rewarding, and offers the opportunity to collaborate with others who are passionate about photography and the arts in New Orleans. Nominees should be prepared to assist in developing a strategic plan to guide the organization into the next decade. NOPA Board Members have the opportunity to use their voice, experience, and connections to help shape the organization’s mission and vision.
DIVERSITY OF ALL SORTS IS A PRIORITY
You can nominate yourself or another qualified individual for one of ten board positions. Officers and committee chairs serve two-year terms. Elections will take place on July 11 and the positions will begin on August 1st.
ABOUT NOPA
The mission of the New Orleans Photo Alliance is to encourage the understanding and appreciation of photography through exhibitions, opportunities, and educational programs. The Alliance strives to be a cultural stimulus, which fosters economic and artistic growth while preserving the rich and diverse photographic culture of New Orleans and the southern region.
The New Orleans Photo Alliance was founded by a diverse group of photographers who joined forces in 2006 to create unity and opportunity for photographers in the Gulf South. It is an artist-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit. NOPA produces numerous photographic exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs, including PhotoNOLA, the annual photography festival held each December in New Orleans. In addition, NOPA administers two annual grants: the Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography, and the Clarence John Laughlin Award.
