“What We Leave Unsaid” is also James Hayman’s first solo exhibition at LeMieux Galleries. Hayman has always worked with images and media, alternating between his dedications to film, photojournalism, and photography. In this exhibition, Hayman takes a humanist approach to street photography which reads as a love letter to the city of New Orleans. Preferring to engage with his subjects rather than capture them unaware, these photographs are alive with visual dialogue, highlighting the deeply rooted community of New Orleanians.
James Hayman splits his time between Los Angeles, California and New Orleans, Louisiana, having discovered the latter in 2014 when he ran the television show “NCIS: New Orleans.” Drawing inspiration from his surroundings, Hayman depicts a reverence for the local culture, landscape, and community. In addition to exhibiting nationally and internationally, Hayman is also an activist who founded The Heart Channels with his wife, actress Annie Potts.
