PhotoNOLA is thrilled to announce a new fundraising initiative, the PhotoNOLA Collectors Club. Each year the festival will partner with a photographic artist to offer a limited edition print for sale. All proceeds will benefit festival programming.
Las Estrellas, the inaugural Collectors Club print, is from Josephine Sacabo’s Nocturnes series. Created exclusively for supporters of PhotoNOLA, the edition is an archival pigment print, featuring a 9×7 inch image size on 12×10 inch hot press, cotton rag paper. The edition is limited to 100 prints, plus five artist proofs. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist, in pencil en verso.
Prints are now available through the PhotoNOLA website, for $100 plus shipping.
Josephine Sacabo is an internationally renowned artist, who divides her time between New Orleans and Mexico. She is recognized for her subjective, introspective style, and frequently draws upon poetry as the inspiration for her work. “We dream in images. Images are at the most basic level of our true psychic reality. Our dreams are the metaphorical pictures of our individual realities,” says Sacabo about her Nocturnes series. “I photograph things not as I ‘see’ them but rather as I might have ‘dreamt’ them.” Sacabo was the keynote speaker for PhotoNOLA 2011.
PhotoNOLA is delighted to offer patrons and supporters the opportunity to own an original Josephine Sacabo print. The Collectors Club will replace the previous auction as the festival’s annual fundraising platform.
