PhotoNOLA’s Portfolio Review program offers photographers the chance to present their work to influential members of the photographic community. One-on-one twenty-minute meetings with gallery owners, editors, publishers and museum curators from throughout the U.S. provide photographers with networking opportunities, critical advice, and guidance for bringing their work to a larger audience.
As a result of PhotoNOLA, past participants have been hired for editorial assignments, awarded solo shows, featured in PDN and B&W magazines, and picked up by galleries for representation. The Saturday evening PhotoWALK offers participating photographers a chance to share their portfolios with the general public, additional reviewers and each other. At the end of the weekend, reviewers will rank their favorite portfolios. The photographer earning the most votes will be awarded the PhotoNOLA Review Prize, which includes a solo exhibition at the New Orleans Photo Alliance gallery the following December.
The 2010 PhotoNOLA Portfolio Reviews will take place on Dec. 4 & 5 at the International House Hotel, conveniently located in New Orleans’ Central Business District, two blocks from the French Quarter.
Registration will open on September 1, 2010 and be filled on a first come first served basis. The $450 registration fee will guarantee each participant 8 reviews.
Participants are eligible to stay at the International House Hotel at a special PhotoNOLA rate. If you choose to stay at the hotel during the Portfolio Reviews, please mention “PhotoNOLA” when making your reservation to receive the discount.
