This collection of photographs and artist statement are excerpted from my recently published book, Tide Lines: A Photographic Record of Louisiana's Disappearing Coast, (2023. Jackson, MS: University Press of Mississippi). I have spent nine years photographing the beauty, complexity, and destruction of South Louisiana from a powered paraglider.

Of the original 4,978 Rosenwald schools built 1912-1937 across fifteen states, only about 500 survive. To tell this story visually, Andrew Feiler drove 25,000 miles, photographed 105 schools, and interviewed dozens of former students, teachers, and preservationists.
